Plants Vs Zombies Flashmob at ICE Gaming Expo: A Creative Performance for Brand Activation

Spielo Gaming approached us with an exciting challenge: create a flash mob dance performance to promote the launch of the award-winning game Plants Vs. Zombies.

This tower defence action game involves a homeowner defending their property from a relentless army of zombies using an arsenal of unique plants.

Our task was to design a performance at the ICE Gaming Expo that would bring the game to life and engage the audience in an interactive and fun way.

The ICE Gaming Expo, held annually in London, is a prestigious event that showcases the latest innovations and developments in the international gaming industry.

It attracts major gaming brands, industry professionals, and a large number of game enthusiasts. This year, Spielo Gaming wanted to capture the crowd's attention by organising a memorable and visually impactful performance to highlight the launch of Plants vs. Zombies.

As the Creative Director for the project, Kwame Knight was tasked with choreographing and producing a dynamic and commercial dance routine that would creatively showcase the essence of the game.

The challenge was to incorporate the quirky and fun nature of Plants Vs Zombies into the performance, using professional dancers dressed in full costumes representing the plants and zombies from the game.

Concept and Execution

The concept was clear: create a flash mob dance performance that would surprise and delight attendees at the expo. We wanted the dancers to embody the characters from the game, with plants using their unique abilities to fight off zombies in a highly energetic and comedic way. The performance would take place at the Spielo International stand, and the goal was to capture visitors' attention while immersing them in the world of Plants Vs Zombies.

Kwame Knight's choreography blended commercial dance moves with a theatrical narrative that followed the storyline of the game.

Professional dancers were transformed into larger-than-life characters, with some dressed as vibrant plants and others as quirky zombies. All incorporated elements of the game's playful and strategic battles. The routines were fast-paced, humorous, and visually striking, drawing on the playful chaos that defines the game.

The flash mob was carefully timed to occur at key moments during the expo, ensuring maximum impact. As the music played and the dancers began their routine, it became clear that this wasn't just a performance but an interactive experience. Visitors were drawn in, excitedly watching as the plants and zombies 'battled' it out in a lively and fun display.
